United Way Day of Caring
September 14, 2018

(9/16/2018)

For the 14th year, Neosource participated in the United Way Day of Caring. Neosource’s first Day of Caring was 2004. Started in 1991, 2018 represents the 27th United Way Day of Caring. Today, it represents 59 Partner Agencies. Day of Caring – truly an invaluable community service.

This year’s crew consisted of a lot of new Neosource faces that haven’t participated in previous Day of Caring’s. Our ‘old timer’s’ at previous Day of Caring’s held down the fort and maintained our busy work schedule to meet customer’s expectations.

It was our privilege to build a ramp for a wonderful 77 year old special (yes, special, not senior) citizen enabling her to exit and enter her house more easily using a walker. Without a ramp, using a wheel chair with assistance was a great challenge, so the ramp is a BIG improvement. It significantly assists preventing falls, which is critical for those over 70.

With the manpower available, the front porch steel railing and supports were power wire brushed, primed and painted providing a nice fresh appearance with all rust removed. Her son had already done a great job of cutting the grass and all the bushes, so just a few were topped off as needed.

Some Day of Caring’s have super great weather with low heat and low humidity. However, this year was one of those hot and humid years with little shade. Despite the high sun, high temps and a lot of drinking water, a truly quality ramp was built that will last many, many years. We’re fortunate to have such skilled workers. Thanks to all for ‘sweating’ it out!!

Our crew had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer for this worthwhile project. Neosource is truly a blessed company, and we always appreciate giving back to our community. Thanks to everyone for improving the lives of others.

Neosource encourages everyone to support the 2018 United Way, to whatever level you can afford. No matter how large or small, it all adds up and, as always, will be used for many great causes for one of the 59 Partner Agencies. See their great page and video at http://www.tauw.org/tauw/default.asp Our 2018 United Way Partner for building this ramp is Ability Resources. www.abilityresources.org

Ability Resources’ mission is to assist people with disabilities in attaining and maintaining their personal independence through advocacy, education and service. One way this can be achieved is in the creation of an environment in which people with disabilities can exercise their rights to control and direct their own lives. Ability Resources is a non-residential Center for Independent Living dedicated to maximizing the independence of individuals with disabilities.

DHS Christmas for Kids
December 20, 2017

(12/20/2017)

Envisioning the joy of a child opening a present Christmas Day is something all of us can appreciate. Working with Tulsa Advocates for the Protection of Children, Neosource was again eager to partner with TAPC, sponsoring 35 children for 2017. TAPC provides a list of a child’s first name and his/her first and second Christmas wish. Several Neosource folks go shopping for the 35 children and labels the gifts for each child. This list is very comprehensive and takes a lot of volunteer time to develop - Thank you TAPC!!

Additionally, our great staff whole heartedly supported a separate company toy drive, providing bicycles and toys to help ensure each foster child wakes up with something for Christmas. We thank all the DHS and TAPC volunteers for making this possible, as there is tremendous work behind the scenes none of us ever see. A special thanks to Maura Browne, who, with many other volunteers, has worked with Neosource for many years to make this happen.

For 2017, over 1500 local children in OKDHS custody will have their Christmas wishes fulfilled. The large room photo represents gifts from the many area donors, with a special acknowledgement to Venture Properties Allen Brothers for donating the use of this large facility (this is their 7th year donating the property).

Hawthorne Elementary Aquarium Trip
(5/22/2017)

As part of Neosource’s continuing contribution to local education, we were pleased to sponsor Hawthorne Elementary School to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks, Oklahoma. This ever growing and improving aquarium recently added an impressive large sea turtle tank. The wide variety of live exhibits and the spectacular shark tank makes for an educational and entertaining visit. Hawthorne Elementary is located at 1105 E 33rd Street North in Tulsa. It was Neosource’s privilege to send 190 students, 16 adults and 19 teachers to this aquarium. The joy and excitement of all these children May 15th and 16th was both humbling and electric!

We wish to thank Hawthorne’s Principal Karesha Solomon and the Aquarium’s Teri Bowers and Ann Money for their significant coordination for this event.

Neosource is excited to assist a local Tulsa church for building a children’s library half way around the world in north Africa. The church has obtained over 90 commercial aluminum double hung windows, which have been safely packaged in 2 large wooden crates by Viking Packing Specialists (Port of Catoosa). This 20’ sea worthy container is packed with these crates, over 100 boxes of church gathered children’s clothes, elementary library books, a few musical instruments and a used piano. Additionally, nearly 4000 sq ft of 26GA panels with ridge caps and screws in the container will provide a metal roof for the library. School desks, soccer equipment and flags of the country for the children completes the container. Monitor our Neosource webpage for new details for this exciting opportunity that will touch the lives of many young children across the globe.
